Happy Blessed Saturday!
I humbly come before you today, giving God all the glory, with no merit of my own.
I know that since I’ve had the pleasure to serve you as your fearless leader, I’ve sent out many many thanks. And indeed; many many thanks have been warranted. Today; I’d be remised if I didn’t take the opportunity to thank each and everyone under the sound of my voice for your unwavering support and unconditional love for MGHS.
I take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who has supported in any way shape or form through finances, gifts, acts of service, words but most importantly your time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life and that’s the greatest gift. Not that monetary donations are not needed, we all know that money makes the world go around, however in this season of uncertainty, you chose to spend it serving our Alma mater for that I am thankful!
To those that continue to support the MGHS OGA WMB, may God bless you and multiply all your contributions and efforts towards this cause.
To all the clergy that interceded on our behalf, who prayed for us when things were not going well, we thank you tremendously for doing God’s will, and your reward will be great in heaven as God has promised. Thank you for your ongoing prayers, love, patience, and care. Thank you for preaching the Word of God. Thank you for being such great leaders in our community, sharing God's Word in a way we all can understand.
To Mrs. Clara Williams and all the founders and cofounders of this association, may your memories for ever live on and be an example of what we strive to be, a blessing.
For over 37yrs collective efforts from all over the world who serve this association have made tremendous efforts in supporting MGHS and the students in more ways that I could stand here and talk about. And with Gods grace Our alma-matter will continue to impact lives for generations to come.
I didn’t understand what it meant when I assumed this role. I wasn’t expecting the sleepless nights, the tired feet, the sore throats, and doing it at 60… all I can say is BUT GOD! I know I didn’t do this alone! I think we can all agree, that This past year, MGHS DMV came out on top! We collaborated, we stuck together; we got the job done and did it like it was organized to be! This year has been one for the history books.
Over the past year; we’ve made great strides. I like to take some time to highlight a few achievements that we’ve made independently and collaboratively:
◦ Two Term Salary Payment for Non-Pin Coded Science Teachers
◦ Collaborative Project - Repair Broken Wall
◦ Scholarships for 102 Students-
◦ 2 Barrels of School Supplies,
◦ Non Perishable Items and Food for Students and Teachers
◦ lab equipments, napkins and plates for home economics, deodorants and lotions for students, school supplies and non perishable food items)
◦ Stipend for Teachers and Staff - Done Annually
◦ Repair Biology, Chemistry and Physic’s Laboratories ($2,500.00)
We are the Leading Contributor to the Diaspora 10 Classrooms Building Project (to return MGHS to one shift school).
I stand before you as President of the MGHS OGA WMB to thank you for your tremendous support. For coming together as one body and staying the course.
I’d be remised if I didn’t take this opportunity to recognize the following MGHS Organizations across the diaspora who are and have been actively helping the school for over 40yrs.
◦ The UK Branch
◦ The WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN BRANCH
◦ THE NY CONNECTICUT MA BRANCH
◦ The Los Angeles Branch
◦ The Georgia Branch
◦ The Carolina Branch
◦ The Canada Branch
◦ The Texas Branch
We are the MGHS HONOR BEFORE HONORS!
I won’t pretend that I don’t hear the chatter amongst the crowd, and the nay sayers, but honesty, if no one talks about you, how can you stay relevant.
Insurrection should have no place in our non profit association as we try to give back to our country. We can and we will make it happen.
SHOUT OUT to all the different school associations that are striving to give back in helping with the educational system in our great Sierra Leone.
We see you and your efforts. And we will continue to come together for our beautiful Sierra Leone, let us not forget that equity is not inclusion and We have every resource necessary to provide access to education for every child on the planet; we just need to commit to enabling it.
As the late Nelson Mandela said, It is not beyond our power to create a world in which all children have access to a good education. Together we can start with MGHS |
